Teeth Whitening

What are the options?

There are 2 methods to whiten your teeth, and an initial consultation with your dentist will help determine which is right for you.

Option 1: In Chair ZOOM whitening

For those who want a quick, “instant” teeth whitening fix, a Zoom in chair procedure is ideal. A series of bleaching gels is applied to your teeth along with a special light whilst you sit comfortably in the dental chair. This procedure takes approximately 90 minutes. A take home kit is given at the end of the appointment to help you achieve the best final result.

Option 2: Take home Professional Zoom whitening kit

For those who want a quick, “instant” teeth whitening fix, a Zoom in chair procedure is ideal. A series of bleaching gels is applied to your teeth along with a special light whilst you sit comfortably in the dental chair. This procedure takes approximately 90 minutes. A take home kit is given at the end of the appointment to help you achieve the best final result.

How successful is it?

Whitening has great success rate, however it CAN be unpredictable and results can vary from person to person, depending on the severity of discolouration.

It’s very important to have realistic expectations from the outset – whitening will go a long way to brightening your smile but the results cannot be guaranteed. It is also important to understand that results are NOT permanent, and lifestyle factors such as diet (red wine, tea and coffee for example), smoking and so on can affect how often touch ups with home kit will be required to maintain the brightness.

Am I a candidate?

A consultation with our Dentist will greatly clarify what outcome to expect. People with yellow-toned discolouration tend to get the best results with whitening.Whereas,brown-toned discolouration don’t respond as well, and those with grey-toned discolouration often don’t respond to whitening at all. Tetracycline (antibiotic) staining cannot be bleached out of teeth and will require other cosmetic options, such as porcelain veneers.
